Nice way of glossing over the mother****in LOGO endorsing Lebron. Jordan has proven to be a terrible talent evaluator. Try again snitch.

Can't win an argument? Start with the insults....people on this forum just never learn.

Let's look at what Jerry said about Lebron:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4178437

The above one is from when Leborn was with the Cavs...notice the words "greatest athlete", "has a chance to", and "could be"...

Let's move a bit more forward to Lebron the Heat and see what Jerry has to say:

    http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakers...,7396311.story

So in this one above he says "Jordan would be a tougher cover than Lebron" and he thinks his old Lakers team from the 70's would beat the Heat. Not a ringing endorsement of Lebron or his team. Sure Jerry goes on to say he's a once in a decade type player and out of this world...but nothing in there is Jerry saying Lebron is better than Mike.

He is this decades poster child for greatness. But like it or not he's a quitter. He quit on his team, not only when he left, but while he was there in uniform. Hell everyone saw it...4th quarter evaporations, playing hot potato with the ball, and disappearing for quarters at a time.

Bottom line is you can go ahead with the insults...I see them and laugh because it lets me know I've already won the debate.

    Cheers

I've presented a couple arguments already. Bravo for finding Jerry saying something in your favor. Point for you. It still doesn't change the fact that Jordan is an awful talent evaluator. And no where in my argument have I said whether Lebron was better or worse than Jordan. I'm simply pointing out that people like Rodman claiming he'd be average in "their era" are nuts. And again, saying Lebron cries for fouls and Jordan didn't is false. If you want to say Jordan was tougher than Lebron, I'll listen to that argument. But Jordan repeatedly looked to the refs when contact was made, and that's a fact. I don't know if you've got rose colored glasses or what. Did he take a beating at the hands of the Pistons, Knicks, and even the Heat? Yes. It's not the same thing in regards to him looking for calls when contact was made, which he most certainly did, even at UNC.

And keep laughing at the insults. They sting less when they are true, you have no reason to be angry about them. All you can do is laugh.

This is a great point. I remember back when a 5'9, 225lb Napolean Kaufman played for the Raiders, and hearing about him bench pressing 500lbs. Now I'm just using him as an example, because it stands out in my mind - I'm sure you can find examples all over the NFL, but could you imagine if he focused his entire life on weightlifting, instead of just using it to improve his football skills? But who's going to dedicate their life to professional weightlifting, when they can make millions upon millions in the NFL?

Another example that stands out to me, is a few years back when Joey Porter was a Pittsburgh Steeler, and was at the Skills Competetion at the Pro Bowl in 2006. They had their "strongest man" event, where players would see how many reps they could do of 225lbs on the bench press. Porter put it up 35 times. That's pretty sick, IMO. Even sicker, is that it was only good enough for 2nd place. Cowboys O-Lineman Larry Allen put it up 43 times for Christ's sake. And these guys obviously work out like crazy, but they don't dedicate their lives to power lifting, like the studs in Russia and China do, as Baph mentioned.

    Quite right.

Everyone blames steroid abuse in China and Iran and Russia for the discrepency, and while that may certainly be a factor (US lifters are regularly tested and brutally punished if caught, including lifetime bans for jucing for international competitions), while others are more-or-less openly jucing right up until Worlds or the Olympics, the only time they ever smell a real test.

But, the real truth is, it's our 5th string guys who couldn't make the NFL vs. their tip-of-the-spear elites. That's the story; not the juice. You really think Iran and Russia have more explosive power athletes than the US? I could take a few cats from the Alabama O-line and give them a run for their money with college kids. Let alone some of the freaks in the league. Balls deep in gold medals, but gold medals don't buy mansions, son.

Basketball/Football is an instant gratification. When's the last time

Yep. Prime example happened just last night. Garret Cole was drafted #1 overall two years ago, and everyone in the baseball world did nothing but talk about how he had the tools to become the best pitcher in the league, and in a hurry. Even with all that hype, and talent, it took until last night for him to make his Major League debut. And that is rare for it to happen that fast. He's considered a once in a generation pitching prospect(well twice, if you count Stephen Strausberg, who had the same hype, and thus far has lived up to it) and it still took him two years.

Or (if you would try logic instead of insults) you would realize that the reason why none of you can "sting" me is because none of you know me and have hit so far off the mark that I get a good chuckle reading it. I laugh because it is painfully obvious that most of you do not have a clue how to "debate" and when you feel like you are on the losing end of an argument slip right down the ladder. I do admit to feeding it some - all I have to do is take someone's e-name and put a slight twist on it and its good for 2 or 3 threads worth of entertainment. The other thing that really seems to get people going is if I add a smiley (especially the eye roll one). That alone sets the gold standard for watching you guys get all riled up over...nothing...

Lebron is mentally weak and a quitter despite being one of the best athletes the game has seen. If he loses this Finals he will be 1 for 4 in the big series to decide the championship. If he wins it he'll be .500. Mike on the other hand...6 for 6 in the big dance and not one of those were close. Its like comparing Joe Montana to Jon Elway. Elway was a better athlete than Joe....but who would you take for a game winning drive if your life depended on it? The guy who was undefeated on the biggest stage...or the one who had defeat after defeat then finally got one. I give Elway 10x the respect I'll ever give Lebron because at least he stuck it out with the Broncos until TD came along to carry him. Lebron didn't even wait for that...just quit on his team (while quitting in the playoffs multiple times for that team) and went to another MVP who had already been to the promised land.

Sorry...but Rodman was right. Super athlete equals Lebron...but very average when it counts most...
