My brother in law bought one a few years back. Used it constantly the first summer, weekends the next year, and a half dozen times in year 3 at least half of which was based on "I'm paying for the damned thing I should use it."

There's a lake that has a place you can rent a boat for $100 a day. Back when I had money, I'd rent a boat once a year. Never felt the need to buy one.

Around here you can get a Pontoon for about 150 for a day. In the bigger lakes you can get a nice Ski boat for around 300 bucks a day. Still a much better option than a $300 a month payment for something you will use 3 months out of the year.

But some people swear by them. They call it a life style.

Boats are like swimming pools. It's good to have a good friend who owns one.

    Cost a lot to maintain.

We have 2 ... a tin boat and a cruiser ... both Lake locked.

Probably nothing has done so much harm to the liberal cause as the wooden insistence of some liberals on certain rules of thumb, above all the principle of laissez faire.

    HA!!

True Story: My first year in Kansas City, I hooked up with this amazonian chick just because she had the biggest pool Iv'e ever seen on anyone's house. She was kind of cute and doable, but girl was 6'1 with feet and hands as big as mine. Took one for the team, but my boys and I had the best summer. Pool parties every day after work. I didn't have the heart to break up with her by Labor day. But she was gone by Halloween.

Have to own one as not much choice when you need to get to your private island.

Ok truth is island, boats, main cabin owned by folks (I pay for storage fees for boats and gas) ... I had the newer cabin built (in the second pic) about 5 years ago.
