Guida has and always will be exciting if and only if the opponent can stop his takedowns. Clay has a ton of heart and relentless cardio.

If he does get the takedown though prepare for a 3 round snoozer.

Money Mendes should be able to stop Clay's takedowns though. We might see a jab and jog fest similar to the Gray Maynard fight but I do think Mendes will win via a boring decision.

^ 2 fights in the ufc and one old strikeforce fight, i guess thats good enough to state him not boring, but hmmmm lets see

Guida vs Diaz ( nate won bs decision and boring lay and prey by clay, all though diaz worked submissions and landed shots from the bottom, stalling and holding got Guida the win )
Guida vs Danzig ( yawn )
Guida vs Pettis ( yawn )
Guida vs Hioki ( holding for the win )

I can name more, all though i do agree the Griffin fight was outstanding, its rare its remotely enjoyable, i actually refuse to watch Clay Guida fights now.
When he is on, i am doing something else, anything, taking a shiit, feeding my cat, getting high, eating a grill cheese sandwich, sheeeeeiiiit anything but watch him fight!

    ^^^^^Oh I agree...

By far, the most boring fighter on MMA today is Clay Guida. His whole game plan is to shut his opponent down, nevermind his offense is close to nothing. The worst part is that the judges buy his game. They actually see him winning fights despite getting outstroke and/or spending most of the time defending submissions.

I hate the guy, yet, it doesn't change the fact that at one point, this guy was a damn entertaining fighter.

I agree but to be honest most fighters in the lighter weight divisions are boring because they can't finish.

I'm a Guida fan cause of the pace he keeps and I have personally trained with him and his brother Jason. This match-up is BAD BAD BAD news for him though. I think Chad will out work him in every area and more than likely get a finish. I hope Clay comes out and proves me wrong but I just can't see it

So when you watch something like...

    Torres vs Mizugaki
    Edgar vs Griffin
    Dodson vs Johnson

You go "Aah whatever, it wasn't all that, they couldn't even finish it".

What the fvck is wrong with you?

That's just completely 100% untrue dude.

First of all, I'm not sure if you are considering 155lbs a "lighter division", but if you are, there are finishes in that division all the time.

145lbs also has TONS of finishes, and 135lbs has plenty of good finishes too. It's only 125lbs where finishes are more rare and that's only cause there are like 12 fighters right now in that division.

The lighter fighters are far and away THE most exciting fighters in MMA.

They have cardio for days, are fast as fvck and extremely skilled and MUCH more fun to watch than most slow HWs and LHWs who gas out in one round.

You don't need to finish to be exciting.

I'd rather watch a 3 round war like most bantamweights and featherweights have than 1 HW knocking another out in the first round.

Anyone with any real educated eye for the sport of MMA agrees that the lighter fighters are usually more exciting than the heavier guys.
