So his helmet gets kicked off and that gives him permission to shove a ref? I don't understand how that is relevant. Is he trying to say he didn't know it was an official?

Well If you watch it again. He literally stands up and just shoves the first thing in his peripheral vision. In the obvious direction from which he was just attacked for no reason. I mean, cmon, the official would have tossed him right away if even he didn't realize that.
If they auto toss him out for popping up and shoving someone in the heat of the moment (great judgement call by the ref who knew what the 49ers were trying to do by the way), then they would also have to go after the guy who kicked his helmet off and eject him too...because I'm pretty sure trying to punt someone's head is grounds for leaving the game. 49ers at that point were a broken team who were trying to execute every dirty trick in the book to try and get the Ravens off that steamroller they were on at that time. Too bad the refs saw through it and did a great job of handling the fallout. Fail plan by the 49ers who were in over their head for the 1st 32 minutes of that game and needed not one but two halftimes to right the ship.
Oh and...scoreboard. All else is just tears....

The Skins have beaten the last 3 super bowl champs during that regular season. The Agony!
