That's closed borders? I want an immigration system that is rational and would benefit the country and NOT to focus on wiping the slate clean evrry 20 years from our mexican invasion. That's what comprehensive immigration reform was in the 90s and what it will be now. Focus on attracting highly skilled workers and allowing ways to fast track them into citizenship falls far, far down the agenda.

For someone who likes to engage in Obamacare discussions, even though you never have any idea what you are talking about on that issue, you obviously fail to realize being a proponent of open borders would crush the system immediately.

And stfu about defending the constitution.
There are plenty of shiit jobs that 'merican's don't do and won't do. It's ignorant to think otherwise. While you need high skilled labor in this county, you also need mules to do hard work for little pay. It's that great big beautiful thing known as capitalism! Merica' Fuuck Yea!

It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out. Illegals keep wages low. Especially in certain industries. Having legal status in the country, i wonder what that will do to typical wages?

Whether or not agricultural and textile jobs would be done by current citizens isn't the point and its opinion, not fact, about what/how/if those industries could survive without a pool of illegal labor. Thousands of illegal aliens stand outside Home Depots all over the country everyday yet the construction industry and handy-men seem to survive and thrive anyway.

Also, the highly subsized farming industry that relies heavily on government welfare is hardly the epitome of capitalism.

These "crap jobs that Americans don't want" are not jobs that Americans would not do, they are jobs that illegally pay under minimum wage to illegals, hence no American wants to pick up a job that pays that amount. How about we make it illegal to pay immigrants under minimum wage? Wait, it actually is illegal to pay anyone under minimum wage, but no one enforces those laws. And if we did start enforcing those laws, soon we will see the bored-looking kid at the gas station working in a field instead because he would rather get a workout on the job.

The common argument that illegals take jobs that no one wants and for that reason we need them here, is actually saying that we need to keep paying people inhumane wages and I don't want to put an end to that but I will pretend that I care.

I wasn't around when the last round of Amnesty was given out. I'm curious to see what effect this will have on wages. I'm assuming that wages that were typically kept very low will increase slightly now that a good majority of workers will have a legal status in this country.

I remember reading an article two years back when Georgia enacted laws similar to Arizona. There was a piece about a guy that owned a fish farm. Said he needed like 250 employees for the start of his season but only was able to hire like 20 people. At the time, George had 10's of thousands of individuals collecting unemployment checks. A good indication that many 'mericans will not look to do hard, tedious work for low wages. I'm not talking getting paid under minimum wage, i mean minimum wage. Probably long hours, extreme conditions. Probably no actual overtime pay.

Your point about the bored kid, opting to work in 100 degree weather picking veggies and fruits as a 'workout', is just stupid. Just downright stupid.

So your point is that people would rather sit around and get unemployment/welfare than work hard for earned money?

Well I personally would rather work in a field as apposed to standing at a gas station for the same amount of wages. Time would go by faster, I would get a tan and I would get a workout. At the end of the day it is about putting in your 40 hours and the choice is up to the free market. But hardly anyone is going to work under minimum wage if they have a choice.

The problem seems to be the welfare system. Who would work for the same wages that they can make sitting on their ass playing video games? Take them off welfare, and trust me, in no time the farmer would have no problem finding employees.

Having the ability to, yes. Being here illegally and not having the ability to, they'll work.
