I think it depends on the individual. Some people just grasp certain things better. we've both seen guys with no experience get on the mats and do surprisingly well. Instincts play a huge role. I'm inclined to think that with zero experience, he would probably lose to Sapp. Then again, is Sapp so big that his brute strength would be overcome by a guy with borderline comparable strength AND speed?

Ringing it back to grappling, I've beaten several guys that we're stronger than me by being strong enough to hold them off until my speed could be the deciding factor.

Maybe with or without experience, Gary is just a bad matchup for Sapp. Then again, Overeem is also very big and very fast and that didn't save him. This really feels like one of those topics that makes you play devils advocate again your own last sentence. Now I'm tired...

This was great viewing, shame it was in japanese apart from Bob Sapps grunts.
Good post Vale, normally i'd slate you, but let u off this time.

Bobb was low off the mark otherwise i think he could have taken the no.1 guy from japan.

Magnus Samuelson vs Nathan Jones in an old World's strongest man; that was a painful broken arm right there.

Anyone remember the Joh Brzenk cameo in "Over the Top" which featured the likes of Terry Funk and Sly Stallone?

Yes, it is. So is arm wrestling with someone who gets frustraited and cheats. I used to be a bit of a dynamo on the pull, but I haven't accepted a challenge in . . . hell, maybe 6 or 7 years now. Great way to jack up an elbow or shoulder.

Kinda weird...I'm only 5'6...was at one point over 210lbs and diesel, was a power lifter, I'm now around 170-180, havent lifted in 5 years.... my left arm..when not all fuked up, is just as strong as before. My right, has always been somewhat weak. I dont however ever remembering losing an arm wresting match with my left hand. Its as much technique as strength. I have in bar side arm wrestling matches went up against 300lbers...never lost, and I know they were physically stronger.
