Yep, you might be right....I dunno though, its not as serious as it may seem. Kinda more of an outlet for dumb and random thoughts. Hell, I think ive gotten in trouble with the popo once since I started posting here 5 years ago.....kind of a relief from the real world..../ shrug
Is this the only part of my post you have the problem with? Are we agreeing on the other things said? I'm not being a dick, I just want to know if you are arguing any other point or if you think this is the one big glaring flaw in my argument.
To answer your question, the people doing these horrible things aren't normal, you and I know that. They are sociopaths with little to no respect for human life. They aren't going to have those crazy butterflies or second thoughts once they start, not like you and I would. They will walk through and be meticulous with their work, they aren't worried about repercussions b/c they plan to take their own life at the end. So while you argument seems to make sense on the surface, if we look deeper, I think it is a stretch to believe a pistol wouldn't be just as effective b/c of nerves or an adrenaline dump, especially when the mentally insane are behind the trigger.
You can disagree with me b/c I'm not going to change a belief but I would like to understand how a person can go on the worst mass shooting in our history with a pistol but have people still believe assault rifles are the problem. I'm not trying to assign you a stance here, if you don't believe assault rifles are not the "problem" then I apologize.

I'm just realistic man. I have all types of weapons so I'm not against any. I thought of the sociopath thing before I posted that as well. But these guys are one and done socio paths. Most others.. Like serial killers do many horrendous crimes. If you look into any of the serial killers A LOT of their first victims were done very sloppily before they get that sick twisted comfortable feeling while doing it. I just have a feeling that these guys who go on shooting sprees are basically in a mind set like they are on crystal meth and just going ape **** on the inside. That's my opinion an you may be right though.
You've made it very clear though that you shoot a pistol somewhat on the regular. I also believe that the va tech guy shot them on the regular as well too. The videos and images he put out posing with his guns made him seem to be some obsessed video game wannabe Crazy ****. So lets just say he's experienced with a pistol like you. Now take someone who is just as experienced as an ar15 as you guys are with pistols. I feel like the guy who is experienced with an AR is going to do world of damage more. I think the kid who shot up that school didn't know what the **** he was doing.
I think it's more of an operator (like cave bear said earlier) action that is what does the damage. But the weapons definitely make a difference. Pistol expert goes on similar scenario shooting spree as an assault rifle expert (or whatever level the shooters are as long as they are equal), and I bet the assault rifle expert takes more lives.

^^^ I agree man, thanks for clarifying. An AR is definitely more accurate and if you put a reflex scope, no contest. You don't need much training to be deadly.
I just wanted to clarify that I don't think banning them is the answer b/c the same type of thing could happen with handguns. More thorough background checks, mandatory waiting periods, and closing the gunshow loop holes while funneling resources to mental health will do much better to curb gun violence then Banning assault rifles. Also ending the war on drugs will do a lot to curb gun violence and crime in general.
I just think it is stupid to point the blame at a specific gun class, it is absurd. The dude from VA Tech was forced to seek counseling, was arrested for stalking, and the college had no idea b/c of a law prohibiting disclosure of such things BUT he was still able to purchase multiple handguns.
We just need to be smart about gun legislation and not act like a bunch of brats that didnt get their way at school so they create a big stink to get what they want.

Yeah man only reaso I've even been arguing is because I thought a comment verbal made was silly and wrong. I'll definitely be outragd if there is ever any gun bans because I enjoy owning and shooting them. I'm just realistic like I said and yeah I will always stand by the argument that an assault rifle will do more and it also depends on the shooter. But I'll never justify banning a certain type of gun. Maybe a certain type of function like fully automatic. But not an individual class of gun. Like said someone can do a massacre with a pistol.. Or a shot gun.
