The fact of the matter is most western men are bigger than 140lbs, but there are anomalies and good ones at that. As of right now, the best 125lbs fighters outside the UFC reside in Asian and Brazil. There are talented fighters who could compete and thrive in the UFC and there are young fighters who are coming up who can be at the UFC level in two or three years.

The UFC Flyweight Division consists of

    Demetrius Johnson (Champion)
    Joesph Benavidez
    John Dodson
    Jussier "Formiga"
    Ian McCall
    Chris Cariaso
    Darren Uyenoyama
    Louis Gaudinot
    John Lineker
    John Maraga
    Tim Elliot
    Ulysses Gomez
    Phil Harris
    Jared Papazian
    Yasuhiro Urush1tani

I will post my list of fighters I believe will be in the UFC in the next year..

I like the 125 class and enjoyed the Benavidez/Mighty Mouse fight and the first Mighty Mouse/Uncle Creepy fight more than a lot of higher weight fights I've seen lately.

It's a Brand new division, OF COURSE it's going to take a while to build it up.

Yes it's true that the average American is much bigger than that, but there are lots of wrestlers who are smaller guys and great at cutting weight that can make that weight.

What's the lowest weight class in American Folk Style these days?

I'd thought I'd once heard it was like 108lbs or some thing, but maybe that was another type of wrestling or another country.

Nevertheless, guys who are good at cutting weight can cut 15lbs, maybe 20, and there are plenty of 140lbs American men.

Also, I think the UFC should look towards countries that have smaller people like Thailand and some Latin countries for these smaller weight classes, and it seems they are already planning to do so from what I have heard.

People forget so quickly but everyone said these same things when 145lbs and 135lbs came about, hell, I have been watching this sport long enough to remember that there was in fact a time (gasp!) when people had concerns about whether a 155lbs divison would work.

Each time people say the same things, the division won't work, these guys are too small, I could kick all there asses, etc etc, and each time a successful division comes out of it.

I really hope they both get in. I consider Darrell Montague the best US born flyweight fighter outside of the UFC (And one of the five best flyweights outside of the UFC in the world)

That fight is going to be insane and so is Rumina Sato vs Hideo Tokoro!!

I see Montague getting the KO this time around. I'd love to see Montague and so many guys in the UFC right now (Moraga, Lineker, Elliot)
