get the **** out of here until you actually prove something. you have 0 proof or your claims, we ask for proof every time you start claiming that the UFC never did 1 million buys, but you have never given us anything. 0 proof. The only person I ever heard (besides you) claim that the UFC wasn't pulling 1 million plus buys was boxing promoter Bob Arum, and he had no proof at all, even less than you do.

How many buys did the first Silva/Sonnen fight get?

I think this could do over a milli, but I'm not so sure that too many casual fans actually saw the first fight.....and the history is what makes this rematch so epic.

They have done a good job at throwing in the history of this fight here and there, which should definitely help gain interest from the casual viewers and I'd say this is almost a cant-miss fight/card for the majority of the hardcore fans. Add in Sonnen's campaign and overall growth in terms of popularity, this card does have potential to pull in big numbers, but I still think a lack of buys for their first fight(I'm assuming here) will hinder the buys a bit for this one.

Sonnen vs Silva II is a HUUUUGE fight, but it still doesn't compare to the what a name like Lesnar thrown into the equation would do regarding casual fans/buyers.

But then again, UFC 117 had such names as JDS, Nelson, Silva, Sonnen, Hughes, Guida, Fitch and Alves, so maybe it did better than what I'm thinking it did.

I don't know, I've heard people who are pretty casual talking huge around here about this fight. It's definitely got that huge fight vibe. **** buys, I just hope it lives up.

I couldn't see this not selling either way. Even people who didn't see the first fight have been educated in that 30 second commercial and understand the build up.

Do a simple google search. Search the Wall St. Journal Website. Dont be a lazy slag.

How about this, you prove to me that the UFC 100 did over 1 million buys. Find me a definitive source besides the reblogged bull**** leak that was 'reported' by Dave Meltzer.
The fact is it is not true, no matter how much you wish it were true. No UFC event has ever broken 1 million buys.

I dont give a **** about buys either, I was just speculating a little bit...I still think just under a million would a big success, thats pretty solid considering this card is not really stacked...but Tito, Forrest and even Cung to an extent still probably have a some pull themselves.

I only have a couple friends who are actually interested in MMA, so I dont get to hear alot of buzz when it comes to casual fans around here. I do think they did do a good job cramming the "history" into their little 30-second promos though. I think I saw a couple of different versions and I thought they nailed it.

I'll be super bummed with a first round finish though..I'd like to see at least 3 rounds no matter who wins.

    I'll go 800-850k

I dont think we'll see another million buy PPV for awhile, unless Lesnar comes back.

    3 12/30/2006 UFC 66: Liddell vs. Ortiz 2 1,050,000

    8 1/31/2009 UFC 94: St-Pierre vs. Penn 2 920,000
    9 8/8/2009 UFC 101: Declaration 850,000

    13 12/30/2011 UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem 800,000
    14 7/8/2006 UFC 61: Bitter Rivals 775,000
    15 2/5/2011 UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort 750,000
    16 12/29/2007 UFC 79: Nemesis 700,000
    17 5/26/2007 UFC 71: Liddell vs. Jackson 675,000
    18 4/18/2009 UFC 97: Redemption 650,000
    19 5/23/2009 UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida 635,000
    20 8/9/2008 UFC 87: Seek And Destroy 625,000
Off topic but who was on the undercard for Rampage/Evans? I wouldn't have guessed that either of them alone could pull a million buys.
