Anderson is worth WAY more than 8 million, he'll make close to that just for the Sonnen rematch.

It really depends. The truth is, if you can hang on for 5 years in the NFL (and when you exclude people who never make an opening day roster (your low draft picks and walk on free agents) the average career is 6 years, you'll make about $4 Million dollars.
You're average middle of the road MMA fighter won't make near that over their career.
That said, because the MMA fighter never gets that immediate influx of cash, they have less opportunity to just blow it. They recognize that if they are lucky to make $50k a year, they need to plan better, which is why a lot of them open up gyms, or teach classes or get a real estate license or whatever, which they can keep doing after retirement.
I do agree that these numbers are crap though.
A Black Belt is just a White Belt who didn't quit.
I would be willing to bet that these #'s are waaaaaaaaaay off from actuals.

No he will make over $5 million, he's getting paid to fight in Vegas instead of Brazil. Why do you think the ticket prices are higher than any event in recent memory? Also this PPV will do big numbers, the UFC is expecting it to be a virtual sellout before the tickets go on sale to the public tomorrow, only single tickets available.
Anderson doesn't respect Sonnen, therefor he really doesn't want to fight him. The $ is too big though.

Ticket prices are high because the overall payroll of this card is huge. Silva, Sonnen, Cruz, Faber, Forrest, Ortiz, Le and Franklin are going to cost them millions before the PPV money.
I agree Silva will end up with a huge payday, but 8 mil is a stretch unless the show breaks records. I have no doubt the pot was sweetened to get Silva to Vegas, but the UFC is not going to offer him millions more than anyone else as it would result in backlash from guys like GSP, who is an even bigger star than Silva. If this show does 1.5 mil, Silva's PPV cut will be close to 5 mil and it would not be out of the question for him to end up with 7 mil or so. But the talk of Silva's downside being several million is speculation.
