I remember after the Wings won the cup in 2002 Brett Hull bitched about only having 6 weeks off before training camp started.

Yeah, no one has repeated since the Wings in the late 90's. Back when Shanahan was paying fines, not handing them out. And 6 of the last 8 Cup winners have gone out in the first round or not even qualified. The two exceptions were Detroit and Pittsburgh, due to their rematch in 2009. Which just proves how good those teams were then

not entirely true. the pens made it to the second round the year after they won the cup. interesting observation nonetheless.

i'm not sure that it's indicative of "too much hockey" as many suggest, so much as it's indicative of just how god damn even many of these teams are. it takes a ton of skill to get to the finals - but damn near every team that makes it to the playoffs has that. so oftentimes what separates teams is a single player peaking at the right time, or, quite frankly, blind luck. someone's gotta win. so when you have two evenly matched teams, as is now so often the case, predicting the winner almost amounts to a coin flip. winning 4 consecutive tosses is hard enough. doing so again the next year is that much more unlikely.

Yeah that was pretty weak sauce. What pisses me off, is it's kind of like the orginized rioters from out of town making everyone say things negative about the people of Vancouver

Here we undoubtedly have a bunch of young, sheltered, ignorant, high school aged ****s from the boonies, hiding behind internet annonimity to say the sort of ignorant, detached crap they say on message boards, text messages, x-box live etc and then everyone is reacting like , "oh nice job Boston....stay classy"

lol ya...It's hilarious how such an insanely small % of the boston population were dropping the n-bomb yet it just gets associated with everyone. Same with the riot in Vancouver like you mentioned. Funny how society works.
