    He had to have been one of the most recognizable boxing figures. He always had his giant cigar and fedora hat on.

    i too always love listening to him talk about boxing. you could tell that he just loved the sport and many of the fighters. he still had the enthusiasm of a big kid, but the knowledge and experience of someone who had followed and written about the sport for 50 plus years

    DAMNITMAN!!! love him or hate him the man was synonymous with boxing. He earned the right to be called a legend in his profession. That's a huge loss to the game. RIP SUGAR!

    Very sorry to hear of his passing over the weekend. A legend in the sports writing world. He will be missed.
