Default Wow, Martinez vs. Macklin didn't even manage to get it's own thread?!

Oh well, was an ok performance from Maravilla and Macklin was his usual honest, gutsy self.

Would have liked to see Mack with the upset but I also made a tidy sum off an 11th round stoppage so I'm, not that fussed!

    Whose next for Martinez?!

My suggestion was Kirkland if he wins his next fight.

Either Kirkland will push Martinez like no one ever has because he is a tough SOB or he will go out in a blaze of glory.

I think Maravilla took a break in the middle rounds on purpose to attract a big money fight. Would love one of the young guns like Chavez Jr or the red head to step up to fight Martinez

I think he was pretty much coasting the entire fight up until Macklin got the dodgy push "knockdown". It seemed to annoy Martinez and spur him into action! Which was probably wise as I'd imagine the judges had it alot closer than it should have been/actually was.

I am also confused how anyone could have that fight level (like HBO commentators did apparently) after 5 or so rounds! Ok Macklin was making it a little uncomfortable by not giving much away but he wasn't landing anything meaningful at all!!!

Yeah I'd like to see Kirkland fight him, but does Kirkland have a big enough name for it to happen?! I think Martinez would give Canello fits, he is too savvy and quick for him IMO. Would be a great fight, but it won't happen!

I thought Chavez had agreed to fight him previously?! I think he beats Chavez badly!

One thing I think they might try to do is make a return Margarito fight! Have Margarito step up and have a warm up fight at MW, then make the rematch!

I'd love to see Mayweather fight him at 154...

You think Mayweather ever takes that fight?! I know Sergio would go down to 154, but I doubt Mayweather would take it!

I wouldn't be surprised if the Manny fight never materializes

Oh I have no doubt at this point that the fight won't happen! If it hasn't happened by now, I can't see how it will now! Maybe after Floyd gets his ring stretched in jail he'll come out a little more humble and it can get made?

I doubt it though. The trouble for Martinez is he isn't young and I know he didn't lace them up until he was 20 but he's got a shelf life, and it's running out without too many big fights on the horizon!

Hence why I think they might go the Margarito route! It's an easy fight to make and extremely easy to sell if Martinez says 10 little words!

"I think he loaded his gloves when he fought me!"

Bingo, we got a fight! Who cares that Margacheato is all but done, it'll still sell so it'll get made.

It looks like Martinez/Chavez jr is gonna happen in September. Huge step up for Chavez Jr. The winner should face the Canelo/Mosley winner
