    Default Brandon Roy to retire

Due to degenerative bone disease i think it said...

Sad. Really ****in sad. Dude had an AMAZING career ahead of him.

Edit: degenerative knees according to ESPN. Nothing new that wasn't known but I really didn't expect an early retirement from it...

Yeah that sucks. He balled out of his mind in Game 4 against the Mavs last year.

^^that's why I'm wondering why he's retiring? He obviously could still have an impact at some level for the next few years. Always enjoyed watching dude play.

Honestly I think that was the best basketball game I've ever seen between 2 teams I didn't give a **** about.

Not only seeing the Blazers come back from like a 28-30 point deficit(or whatever it was) but to see Roy come off the bench and just burn it up was absolutely amazing.

Because that condition doesn't get better. It only gets worse. He could never play back to backs, and this season with this schedule would have killed them. He is honestly doing the Blazers a huge favor if he retires. He is really a stand up guy.

Great Player and sad he has to retire before his career should be over. I wish him the best of luck.

I was very upset when my Timberwolves swapped Brandon Roy for Randy Foye on their draft night...Roy was a hell of a player and would've done some wonderful things for the Wolves had they kept him...Foye was a complete bust

Having a lot of experience with knee surgery myself (did 3 of them before I wised up and stayed off the basketball floor) I can say that Roy is doing the right thing. It won't get better no matter how you rehab it or what surgery you do to it. Once you do something to your knee...it never becomes 100% again. Period. And in Roy's case where it is at the degenerative point...just call it a career. Hopefully he stays retired because I can say from firsthand experience that the "itch" of playing never goes away and it can lead to disastrous results if you try and jump back out on the floor because your pride kicked in.

As for Roy..hell of a ball player and it sucks but you are doing the right thing. Hopefully the Blazers put you somewhere in a capacity where you still get to do some things for the team that will partially fill that basketball itch without having to be on the floor causing yourself a ton of pain.

Which NBA team did you play for?

I see. So I cannot quantify knee pain unless I played for an NBA team. My bad. I'll make sure to be the e-police on these type of infractions for the forum. For example...if you didn't ever get KO'd in the Octagon, then no more comments about KO's in MMA from that poster. If you have never been President of the United States then no more comments on how any former or current Presidents are doing at this time. Matter of fact...we may as well just jump ahead here and shut down the forum since 99% of you have no experience as a professional in any sport. And since anything related to the sport like knee pain cannot be quantified by us non-experts whats the point of talking about it?

    Right?
