That X-Men game is exactly what came to mind when I saw this thread.
Street Fighter 2 got a lot of play from me before it was released on consoles.
easy choice for me.i probably spent hundreds of dollars on this game as a kid(parents are suckers).

Me too. That Xmen game was my jam. Other than that, I was really into the terminator 2 game with the rifle controller. I dont know if it qualifies as an "arcade game", but I also really liked the Guns n' Roses pinball machine when I was young because I was a huge GnR fan.
“I hate to break it to you but there is no big lie. There is no system. The universe is indifferent.”
Mortal Kombat was pretty awesome when it hit the arcades too.
Man I have a bunch! Arcades were my babysitters growing up...
Simpsons
Ninja Turtles
Xmen
Marvel vs Capcom
King of Fighters (the chick with the fan and bouncy tittays were)
Tekken
Cruisin USA
Sunset Riders
Metal Slug
And I'm not sure if you guys had these in your area, but some cheap stores would have the tweaked out Street Fighter II.
Mortal Kombat for sure. This local place used to have these big serious tournaments for money when I was kid. They'd have one a week and I'd win three a month almost everytime. My dad was always laughed because all these older guys (I was like 8) would get ****ing PISSED. They were in college and I would ****ing own them on that guy. Winner always got $100 and it was usually me. Some of the most fun I had as a kid was going down there and winning money.
On the site I play Bejewled on for money calls it an arcade game. Not much has changed I guess, lol. I came really close to winning $10,000 the other day. I'm up to about $400 a week so that's basically how I make a living now. Video games.![]()

I'm 38 and spent a ton of time in the local arcade right across the street from my house. I wish I had a penny for every quarter I dropped, I would have a ton of cash in the bank. X-man was a great call.
Arcade games are not what they used to be at all anymore. Spent time playing a ton of them but this one always grabed my attention. Finally beat it in about 6 months of playing. At the time it came out I was 10.
Dragons Lair for me back in 1983.
Video below. First carton game that came out that you had to move your stick in the direction of the blinking object and so on.
Just found out right this minute that it's offered on the Wii. Going to have to get a copy of it.

Marvel v Capcom 2 is definitely the best arcade game ever. I spent hours on that thing.
I like MMA and esports.
