Basically traded Harris, Favors and 2 First round picks to the Jazz.

Troy Murphy also got sent to Golden State for Gadzuric & Brendan Wright. Murphy will probably get bought out.

They gave up a lot but Deron Williams is a stud that instantly makes that team better. Brook Lopez is gonna love playing with him. Assuming they have a long term deal in place for him, I say its a solid move by the Nets.

hahahahahha what now Cacti??

Not a bad trade considering they probably wouldn't have been able to resign him, but what a traumatic season for Jazz fans.

He's a free agent after next season so this is an awful trade unless they feel they can lock him up.

If he doesn't resign there then it basically dooms their franchise since they lost 2 first rounders and young talent to get him.

Still i think they'll get him signed. Him and Brook is a solid tandem and if they can get another player it would make New Jersey enticing. Its definitely a bigger market for Deron.

Shocking to say the least.

I've posted a few times that I wouldn't mind seeing D-Will go, but only to a good team.

Overall I think the Jazz got the better of it.

Harris is quality, plus 2 1st round (lottery) picks. Yeah I'll take that. Oh and Favors who I'm not too high on.

So now we have Harrington, Millsap, and Favors.

Wouldn't shock me if they go nuts and deal Millsap. Which would be dumb.

Sounds like the Hornets are going to trade for Carl Landy. Very good deal for them. They will be giving up Marcus Thornton.

If it wasn't now it would've happened eventually. All my friends that are hardcore Jazz fans have been saying it. I didn't see it happening this way though.

Kinda funny Jerry Sloan quit over management taking Williams side and now they trade him.

Overall I think the Jazz got the better of it.

Lets see they traded the best point guard in the league for a decent point guard and a prospect and two first round picks and **** the picks...The Nets are muchh better with Williams and will most likely contend for a play off spot next year. So you're looking around a 15 pick from GS and 16th pick from the Nets. Not many superstars at that level in the draft. No way in hell the Jazz got the better of it.

Sounds like the Bulls may be making a push for OJ Mayo...

Man I was going to say, that would be a horrible idea! IMO Losing the best PG in the league is never a good thing no matter what you get out of it. The probability that one of the players aquired turns out to be as good as he is is very low.

Would love to see OJ playing with Rose. God damn they would be a force if they pull it off.

It's the Melo ripple affect. Teams are smartening up and trying to get something now instead of nothing later.

They get this years pick from the Nets, which is going to end up being a top 8 pick at worst.

Golden States pick in 2012.

A rookie with a bunch of upside

A point guard more than half the league would take over what they've got.

Do you want all that or a guy that will be gone after next season anyways?

Hell, even with Williams there's a good chance they wouldn't even make the playoffs this year.

Like people have been saying...he's a free agent in another year and like every other high profile free agent will test the open market...not a very good trade for the Nets if they can't convince him to stay in Brooklyn...

"With the 6th pick in the 2011 NBA draft the Utah Jazz select Jimmer Fredette, BYU"

God, I can see it now.

If they pass on Harrison Barnes for Fredette we'll be laughing about that for 15 years...

Additionally, one presumes the Jazz will spend the next 24 hours before the trade deadline searching for opportunities to dump Andrei Kirilenko, Mehmet Okur and/or Raja Bell and get themselves under the luxury tax threshold (Utah will be about $5 million over the luxury tax line after this trade). While the playoffs aren't out of the question, the Jazz are only a half-game ahead of Memphis for the West's eighth and final playoff spot at the moment, and the team was only 4-13 in its last 17 games, even with Williams.

If Paul isn't a Knick next year, Williams will be.........at least the Knicks better hope so.

Because, I'm sorry, having Stoudamire and Anthony with no real big men or point guard to speak of is going to get them nowhere

NJ is gonna rebuild around D-Will.

i think he signed a 3 year deal and the Knicks don't have anyone left to trade for him...

Good trade for the Nets if they can lock him up, which I think they can after the new CBA. It's called a franchise tag and it has a lot better chance of happening than not from what I'm hearing/reading from longtime NBA people.

Utah got a nice deal though although that GS pick isn't all it's cracked up to be (top 7 protected and turns into 2 2nds by 2014), but the NJ pick is good in what everybody is calling a terrible draft.

This trade almost assures Denver of making the Playoffs, although I thought they were almost a lock before.

it was a very good move for the nets. williams is top 5 at PG with rose, paul, rondo and westbrook and in his prime. its very rare to find a 20 and 10 assists guy. the last time the Nets got a top PG in his prime, Jason Kidd led them to 2 finals. Not saying that Williams will at all, the East is much tougher now then it was and Kidd had a better supporting cast with prime Martin and Jefferson.

hopefully they can get him to sign for long term, and he will be able to recruit another star or 2.

Very calculated move by the Nets. If the league gets a franchise tag, they have a great shot to keep Williams. Even if there is no franchise tag, they still have a good shot if they can pick up a good free agent like David West in the off-season. Most of New York's cap space is gone now, and they have nothing of value to offer in a trade other than maybe Landry Fields and Chauncey's expiring contract next year. The only teams with cap space for 2012 as of today that have any shot at all will be the Clippers and the Suns. The Clippers have the worst owner in all of pro sports. Griffin is a monster, and Gordon is a potential All NBA 2nd or 3rd team in another two or three years. However, I just have a hard time imagining Sterling doing something right. The Suns are a decent team, but their ownership is horrible, and they have no young talent once Nash is gone. I have a hard time seeing them as a real contender. The Nets made are taking a gamble, but that is how bad teams become good teams other than lucking into a superstar in the draft like the Cavs did.
