1) TEAMS: it is not necessary to be on a team to participate in FF. you can fight for yourself. being on a team gives you the advantage of being able to bounce your picks off of others and also helps promote team unity and creates rivalries.

2) LEAGUES: there are two "major" leagues. the MMAF (run by snapcase) and the UFF (run by Daywork). generally speaking, both leagues use the same fight cards (pretty much just UFC cards now). you CANNOT fight in both leagues at the same time. you just have to pick one. there are two "minor" leagues, the EFCF (run by srdafish) and the ACFL (run by Tokyudo). the EFCF uses the small organization cards (IFL, WEC, CAGE RAGE, etc). since the EFCF uses different cards than the MMAF and UFF, you can fight in the minors and majors at the same time. the ACFL specializes in Asian events (Dream, Sengoku, Shooto, DEEP, Cage Force, etc.).

3) SIGNING UP TO FIGHT: to sign up for a fight, simply post in one of the announced fight card threads and say you'd like a fight or simply "in". the league president will match you up with somebody. you can also challenge someone to fight or someone may challenge you. if the two of you agree, the president will make it happen.

4) PICKS: when making your picks for a card, you pick the winner of the fight, the method of win (KO, SUB, DEC), and the round in which you think it will end. you then sort your picks according to "lock order". you rank the fights based on how confident you are in the winner. for instance on a 5 fight card:

5. Liddell/ KO/ 1
4. Griffin/ Sub/ 2
3. Silva/ KO/ 1
2. Edgar/ Dec
1. Florian/ Dec

in this case, you are most confident in your liddell pick and least confident in your florian pick.

to send in your picks, wait until the league president posts a "picks thread". at that time, you PM your picks to the league president. you can then post in the thread that you sent in your picks.

5) SCORING: the fights are scored by adding the lock order, plus 3 points for getting the correct winner, +3 points for getting the correct method, +3 points for getting the correct round. for instance in the above card if liddel won a decision, griffin lost, silva won via sub in round 1, edgar won a decision, and florian won via KO in round 3:

5. Liddell/ KO/ 1= 5+3+0+0=8
4. Griffin/ Sub/ 2= 0
3. Silva/ KO/ 1= 3+3+0+3=9
2. Edgar/ Dec = 2+3+3+3=11
1. Florian/ Dec= 1+3+0+3=7

TOTAL= 35

note that in florian's fight, he got a KO in round 3 and you still received the 3 points for picking the correct round. when you pick a winner by decision, you still get the round bonus if the fight ends in the third round. the reverse also holds true. if you pick Rua/ KO/ 3 and the fight ends with Rua winning a decision, you still get the round bonus for the fight ending in the third round (a decision).

There is also a 10 point bonus if you correctly pick all of the winners on a card. (This rule does not apply to the ACFL).

6) SMACK TALK: Will be allowed to an extent due to the competitive nature of the forum. However, the rules of the general MMA forum also apply to the Fantasy forum.

if you have any questions, feel free to ask via PM or in one of the threads. most people will help you out. good luck and have fun!

Here are the basics for UFF and MMAF rankings:

Weighted pick rate is determined by this:

Last event = pick rate x 1.0
2nd to last event = pick rate x .9
3rd to last event = pick rate x .8
.
.
.
9th to last event- pick rate x .2

the pick rates are then devided by the denominator (1 + .9 + .8 + .7 + .6 + .5 + .4 + .3 + .2) which is 5.5 if you competed in all events. Iff you did not compete in all the events the denominator is adjusted to reflect only the events competed in.

Weighted win percentage is figured as follows:

If you won last event you get 1
If you won 2 events ago you get .9
.
.
.
If you won 9 events ago you get .2

the added numbers from wins are then devided by the denominator (1 + .9 + .8 + .7 + .6 + .5 + .4 + .3 + .2) which is 5.5 if you competed in all events. Iff you did not compete in all the events the denominator is adjusted to reflect only the events competed in. This gives you weighted win percentage.

Addtionally, new this year for this yeras events

If you fight a top 5 fighter(win or lose)

Last event .2
2nd to last event .18
3rd to last event .16
.
.
.
9th to last event .04

These are added to the win totals before they are devided by the denominater.

If you fight a top 6 to 10 fighter(win or lose)

Last event .1
2nd to last event .09
3rd to last event .08
.
.
.
9th to last event .02

These are added to the win totals before they are devided by the denominater.

Points are deducted if you have not competed in the last 9 events in their entirety. They differ depending how far back you missed an event. Daywork can give you those numbers for sure.

WEIGHTED PICK RATE + WEIGHTED WIN PERCENTAGE = FIGHTER RANKING

Does it have to be the main card? or any fight on the card?

This is the new format all picks should be done in

On Weekly Fantasy fighting forums, there will be a sign up thread posted with the fight card. For the UFC events, you can either compete in the UFF or the MMAF...they are the same, just too many peole for 1 league...but you can only compete in one. The minor leagues, like EFCF and ACFL, everyone can also compete in both those cause they have different cards than the UFC. So after you have went into the forums, looke for a sign up thread and you would post "Im in". You can call other fighters out, or just let the league guys set you up with someone with a similar ranking/record. The, copy/paste the fight lineup that is listed on the thread iton a word document like this:

Quinton Jackson vs. Lyoto Machida
Matt Hughes vs. BJ Penn
Joe Lauzon vs. George Sotiropoulos
Tim Boetsch vs. Phil Davis
Maiquel Falcao vs. Gerald Harris
Matt Brown vs. Brian Foster
Mark Munoz vs. Aaron Simpson
Dennis Hallman vs. Karo Parisyan
Edson Barboza vs. Mike Lullo
Paul Kelly vs. TJ OBrien
Nik Lentz vs. Tyson Griffin

Next, delete the guys you think will lose, and add the method (ko, sub, dec) and the round (1, 2, 3) after the winner so it will look somewhat like this:

Quinton Jackson-ko-1
Matt Hughes-dec-3
Joe Lauzon-sub-2
Phil Davis-sub-1
Maiquel Falcao-ko-3
Brian Foster-dec-3
Aaron Simpson-ko-2
Karo Parisyan-sub-1
Edson Barboza-sub-3
TJ OBrien-sub-3
Tyson Griffin-ko-2

The last thing you do is rank the fights based on how confident you are. The more confident, the higher the number. The least confident, the lower the number. Since there are 11 fights, the one you are most confident would be your 11 lock and on down, so it will look like this:

6-Quinton Jackson-ko-1
3-Matt Hughes-dec-3
7-Joe Lauzon-sub-2
11-Phil Davis-sub-1
9-Maiquel Falcao-ko-3
2-Brian Foster-dec-3
5-Aaron Simpson-ko-2
1-Karo Parisyan-sub-1
10-Edson Barboza-sub-3
4-TJ OBrien-sub-3
8-Tyson Griffin-ko-2

Now your picks are done. Copy them and PM them to the person who started the sign up thread depending on what league you are competing in.
