My choice for Finalists: Calgary vs New Jersey
My choice for Stanley Cup Winner: New Jersey
Conn Smythe: Brodeur

My sleeper picks are Montreal and San Jose(San Jose will not crumble this year, not with Boyle and Blake on the blueline.)

P.S. THESE ARE EARLY PICKS FOR MARCH 1ST.
WE'LL MAKE ANOTHER THREAD ONCE THE PLAYOFFS BEGIN AND COMPARE THE TWO. :D

for me I see it like this

Eastern Final: New Jersey vs. Washington Capitals
Western Final: Calgary Flames vs. Detroit Red Wings
Stanley Cup: Calgary Flames vs. Washington Capitals

but man this playoff race is crazy.... someone could come out of nowhere...

I don't think Chicago or Columbus or Florida have the experience to make it deep

- San Jose always collapses

But who knows going to be an amazing post season this year

Yeah, this will be better once we know the final standings and whatnot. But for shits and giggles:

East: Boston vs. Montreal - Boston
West: Calgary vs. Detroit - Detroit
Cup: Boston vs. Detroit - Boston with the upset.

My heart says Boston but my head says.......

East: NJ over Boston
West: Detroit over Chicago
Cup: NJ over Detroit

I just have a bad feeling about the Bruins playing NJ or Washington in the playoffs. They both have had the B's number this year

P.S. My sleeper teams are the Blue Jackets and Flyers

My sleeper team to take the cup is Dallas, but that's only if they get Morrow back. Not sure how long he's out for.

East: Boston vs. New Jersey - New Jersey
West: Vancouver vs. Detroit - Vancouver
Cup: New Jersey vs Vancouver - Vancouver!!!!

lol, obviously a lot of this has to do with me being such a huge Canucks fan...Buuuuut, having said that they are currently the hottest team in the league, going 10-2 over their past 12. I just think they are a team built for a deep playoff run. Amazing goalie, solid 'd', and an offense that has been scoring over 3 goals a game on the majority of nights :D

having said that, they are a team full of players that have no heart for the playoffs (excluding Luongo)...

they have good players, but they don't have the heart that team like Washington or New Jersey has to name a few

you know Vancouver is a big choke artist team in the playoffs, only team worse than them is Dallas

You can't compare the Canucks of old to this team....It's like apples and oranges. First of all, they have made the playoffs once with Luongo. In those playoffs, they beat a team with more points then them in Dallas, and then lost to the Stanley Cup Champion Ducks. I fail to see the choking.

Other sorta recent playoffs were when they choked against calgary, and blew a 3-1 series lead against Minnesota. These were like 5 years ago. However, both those teams had young Sedins (who were averaging in the 30-50 point range those 2 seasons, NO LUONGO, no Sundin, no Kesler, no burrows, no Demitra, no Mitchell, no Bieksa....

So basically you are comparing a team that was COMPLETELY DIFFERENT and just assuming this Canucks team is the exact same. The Canucks "choked" in the playoffs because they had Cloutier and Alex Auld leading them to the promise land. Your logic fails.

I don't mean to sound like a hater, because I do actually like the Nucks a tiny tiny bit....

But No Heart = No 2nd Round for your boys this year Jasper.
At least the golf corse will be thawd out earlier for them.

We'll see who has heart once the playoffs come around ;).

Last time the Canucks went into the playoffs the opposing team had the Sedins to worry about, that's it. And if you checked them good then Vancouver had nothing.

This year opposing teams will have to worry about the Sedins, Sundin, Demitra(say what you will about him but he IS a good upgrade from Naslund), as well as the overachieving and hard-nosed Kesler and Burrows.

Thats a huge difference from their previous playoff run with Luongo in the net.

I think they'll play anyone really tough if they stay healthy.
