View Full Version : Stupid question about A.I.

I'm not a very big fan of basketball (hardly even a casual fan) although I do watch the playoffs and the finals (I guess its just more interesting then the regular season).

Why do some players wear a compression sleeve (if that's what it actual is) on one arm? An example is A.I. Every time I see him he's wearing it on the same arm. I'd think that if it serves an actual purpose that he'd have one on the other arm or that you would see more players wearing them. Does it cover an offensive tattoo that Stern doesn't want shown on tv? What's the story with his sleeve?

Thx

He has a bad elbow, it's a padded sleeve. Melo also wears one.

I think Iverson does it more out of habit, not out of protection. Some players get thrown off balance without some form of consistency, even in their clothing. Like short haired basketball players wearing head bands, which is completely useless. From pre free-throw mechanics to body accessories, NBA players don't like change.

Remember the Sixers-Lakers finals years ago? The Lakers practiced by making Tyronne Lue play Iverson and attack their defense, and in the actual game, they had Lue completely mimic Iverson by wearing the exact same sleeve.

No it really is to cover up a tattoo that Stern doesn't approve of. I believe it's gang related or something to that effect.

He's worn it his entire NBA career.

No it's not, he has something like bone chips in that elbow, he has to get it drained in season all the time.

It's for tendinitis I read it here like ten years ago.
